OTFC Status

      Current Status:

1. OTFC was advertised at the AAS HST exhibit.
We have set up a web page that
contains information about OTFC, including instructions.
There are links to this page from the STScI home page
and the instrument pages (WFPC2 and STIS). Thus far,
we have not gotten any questions or problem reports
from users.
2. Over 85% of the archive requests for WFPC2 and STIS data use OTFC.
Requests have been received from throughout the US
and Europe.
3. We investigated more fully some STIS datasets that
cannot be calibrated by OTFC. Their names have been entered into the database.
For STIS, some data keyword values were entered into the repair
system and some remain to be done.
4. We completed the design of a system to track OTFC performance.
It is now under development.
5. The DADS test pipe had a bug for offline platter requests.
The fixed was to be installed in DADS 8.01 but was pulled out
of that release, due to a problem.
6. Mike Swam developed the requirements for the OPUS
portion of the OTFR (next generation OTFC) system.
We are reviewing this report.

Future Tasks
- Option for obtaining only calibrated data and other user
    specified options
- Cache for frequently requested data (will be part of the
                 DADS archive engine re-engineering).
- More generic associations involving existing
  collections of previously unrelated data
  - ECF WFPC2 mosaics
  - User-requested STIS wavecals
- Development of OTFC reprocessing system. This will
recalibrate data from POD files, rather than FITS files.
Headers will be rebuilt on the fly.
